Stuff I got at expozine part 2!

Look around you. In the subway, at the restaurants, in the bars, at the movies... is everyone mindlessly staring at screens? I'm doing that right now. You too I guess. It seems we always need more entertainment, more diversion, more thing to take our minds outta things...

It seems we do it by instinct now. It seems starring a screens has become everyone favorite pass time. And if that's what we have become, it will truly be the time for

PRO-CAN!!

Noooooooooooooooooooo!! Arrrrrrgh!!!!

Beside being created in a secret lab for the United States army, PRO CAN is a comic written and drawn by a dude I know. I was told to read this comic wasted. I was not totally wasted but I was my usual wasted self on a saturday night so I decided to read PRO CAN LIVES ; INVASION 4.

It's a comic about zombies in Montréal. It's about people becoming zombies because of a drug called PRO-CAN. Like that guy who made NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD, The fiend that writes and draw it seems to have something to say about society and he says it in the way it should be said e.i; with zombies getting their brains splattered and people getting eaten.

Pro-can is the kind of comic I like to read. It's not the Walking Dead I guess, ( i have'nt read them) but it's fun to read, it's intense and it's raw. There's no pretention in PRO CAN, it's violent, explicit, honest and true. There's a scene about being eaten that won't be in any zombies movies for now . It's gross, disgusting and awesome. It would be great to see that on screen.... well no.. not that great... it would be horrible in fact.

It has plenty of potential and I'm gonna get the others in the series to know what happens.

Just the next week after the awesome expozine, there was a comic-con at good ol' place bonaventure. With not a lot of stuff left to sell except pins. Yes! brand new awesome pins that you can get by giving Apeman who is begging on the front page !! Anyways there was a comic con and I went to check it out.

And I found the picture of what should be in the dictionnary next to the word awesome.

X-pozine 2011 part uno

Le voici, le voila! Le premier récapitulatif de ce qu’ai j’ai touvé a l’expozine.

Ayant en en tête que l’expozine est une overload d’informations sensorielles et de coolness se concentrant dans un tout petit sous sol d’église où l’alcohol est vendus et les samosa végé ne sont qu’ a un dollar , il est difficile de choisir sur quoi porter son attention. Mais j’ai en ma possession des trucs que j’ai acheté totalement au hasard tandis que d’autre trucs ont été choisis très judicieusement.

Alors, voiçi la première mention;

Epitaphe 1 spécial CONAN.

Un fanzine vintage. Il date de 1996. Je trouve ca bizarre de penser que 1996 soit vintage car j’étais la en 1996 en train d’essayer de rocker. Epitaphe est un fanzine mettant à l’avant le texte et non le visuel. Ce qui est plus en plus rare. Le concept d’épitaphe est que lors de l’anniversaire de la mort d’un auteur, des fans se rassemblent pour écrire des histoires très intéressantes. ET EN FRANÇAIS!

Conan. Mais qu’est ce que je connais de Conan? J’ai vu le premier film et je sais que j’ai un faible pour la sorcière que CONAN séduit dans le premier tier du film. L’énigme du fer? Aucune idée de ce que ca pourrait signifier.

Une chose que je ne savais pas cependant. L’auteur, le créateur de CONAN s’est suicidé à 30 ans. Il a vécu de 1906 à 1936. Ca, ca m’a découragé. Si je m’étais suicidé a 30ans, qu’est ce que j’aurais laissé en héritage? Juste une tonne de bouteilles de bière vide et des cendrilliers pleins. Mais Robert E. Howard nous a laissé tout pleins d’histoires intéressantes allant a celle d’un barbare jusqu’a celles d’un texan exilé en afghanistan.

Bref, peu importe, C’était très cool a lire. Des histoires où Conan meurt. Est-ce que le plus glorieux des barbares saurat faire face a sa propre mortalité? Est-ce qu’il y a une signification plus grande à l’existance que hacker et slasher ?

Vraiment cool concept et j’ai vraiment aimé lire ce que devrait être un fanzine. Un hommage créés par des fans, photocopiés sur des feuilles banales de 8 ½ par 11 mais qui est plus imaginatif que le dernier film de hollywood .

Maintenant il faut je lise celui sur H.P. Lovecraft.

Montreal Comic-con part one.

I was there for a few comic-con in the last few years trying to sell my stuff to unsuspected people and I thought last year was big. Well I was wrong. This year was big. I could not believe the line up I saw when I went to get water. I stopped walking just to look at all the people in line. I heard some people haved waited hours.

I don't know if I'd would be able to do that.

There's a special ambiance at the comic con. Hundreds ( if not thousands) of people hang around and talk to each other. For hours. It's like a mosh pit full of nerds, geeks and people dressed funny. Exhausting but fun.

It's amazing how many cool people you can meet there. And it's amazing how much people can kick my ass. I like that.

I talked to a lot of interesting people over the week end. A lot of them took a wild, crazy guess in buying my stuff. You gotta have respect for that. You have to. You need to be courageous to do that when there's so many awesomly looking stuff everywhere. It's like asking the ugly chick for a dance in a room full of babes.

Ill try to plug as many things as I can about stuff I saw.

But first I'll tell you this;

There was this guy in a ghostbusters suit that stopped at my table. I was doing my ol' selling pitch. He said; well that reminds me of something.

Hey unbeleivers!

The comic con was pretty fun. Looking fowward to the one in september. Im sure it's gonna be awesome with Stan-the man- Lee. I had a lot of good conversation with a lot of interesting people (and we were all sober! Amazing isin't it?) Still I wish Elvira would be re-invited.... ah well.

So thanks to the courageous people who bought a copy of deadhead. I said I would give the money to the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support ( http://jears.org/ )

But I changed my mind and went to a strip joint. Just kidding. I did give it to them
. So heres a kinda proof.

Hey true unbelievers! As you probably know there's a mini comic-con on may 1st and the organisers are gonna raise money for
Japan. It's fun to read about big muscles men saving the day but when you can mix it with helping out people in need, it's better.

So to make a long story short, I have a few copies of Deadhead; StillBirth, fanzine sized copies of deadhead 5 and issue 6 laying around. So I had an idea.
On may 1st I'm gonna slash the price off the comics and give all the profits to the Japan Earthquake Animal Rescue and Support
(http://jears.org/ ) There will be pins as well and maybe something else.

Why? You ask. Well first of all it will be great publicity! And secondly I think it's pretty important not to forget the other
species affected by the earthquake. They kinda need help now. And I have been reading Animal Man recently. As well Ill be selling them cheap
because I want to reprint them with a new cover and a surprise (available on the comic con of september). If you already got your
copy, buy one for a friend! Or better yet, buy one for you best rival! Just to show him how much cooler you are because you where
reading DEADHEAD COMICKS before him.

Alors, en cette nuit d'éclipse et de solstite d'hiver, je propose(à qui voudrait participer) de faire un collectif de comics, de nouvelles, de trucs qui auraient un lien avec le fantastique et le morbide.

J'imagine un magazine qui serait un mix entre Tales from the crypt, Twilight Zone et Heavy Metal. Tout serait relativement permis mais je n'ai aucune idée comment le gérer. Cependant j'ai des contacts pour le distribuer. Peut-être qu'il peut y avoir des possibilité de financement.

Pour l'instant, le ¨working title¨est ¨Somedays it's dark¨. Je paye une bière et des shooters a celui ou celle qui trouve la référence sans utiliser google.

Hey unbelievers!

There's a comic-con on sunday and since I had nuttin' new to sell I made a christmas card that I wanted to sell 2$ and give the money to the g20 people that are paying for the legal fees thingy. At the same time it's a great way to get some kind of exposure. (of course I won't do something if there's anything for me in it)

I did one in french and instead of writing -enrichissant- I wrote -enrichant- and i did'nt even notice while making sure There was no mistake on it.

Well hopefully no one will notice.

How to take advantage of artist TAKE 2

Ok, my idea of putting a book out called ¨The incomplete guide to Deadhead comicks¨(wich was a knock off of what?) was a total flop, except for JMCM's praises.
So now what? Well I did nothin for a while, but today I had another idea.

There was a problem with that book. If it came out there would be around 20 characters. Then, with the pace comicks are coming out, we would have to wait another freaking 20
years before the ¨Incomplete guide to deadhead comicks volume 2¨would come out. And that would kinda suck, right?

So here's the deal. Remember those marvel or dc collectible cards? Probably not because most people where collecting ¨upper deak¨ hokey cards. An normal people were'nt buying card at all.
Actually I never bought those but I always checked me friend's collection. So here it is.
How about some awesome ¨Deadhead comicks collectible cards¨? Each one drawn by an unknow or relativly known artist. Hey, or an known
artits if they will do it for free. It would be promotional stuff for convention and stuff. Not to sell. Behind the card there woul d be the bio of the character
and of the artist.

The first onewould be of Deadhead for the expozine. Anyone up for that?

J'ai eu une idée il y a un certain temps pour un projet qui pourrait être présenté au comic con de septembre.

En résumé je voulais faire un mini livre qui s'appelerait The incomplete Deadhead handbook. L'idée serait de prendre les personnages de deadheadcomicks etchanque personnage serait illustré par un dessinateur/tricede montreal pas trop connnu. Evidemment il y aurait une liberté totale sur le style. Le dessin serait accompagné d'une bio de personnage et une bio vrai ou bidon de l'artiste.

A mon avis ce serait bien pour faire connaitre le talent local et bien sur deadheadcomicks. Le seul problème est comment dédommager les artistes. J'ai une petite idée. Et non ce n'est pas me pousser avec l'argent s'il y a des profits.

Hey people. I think I will sell comics at the montreal comiccon this september. Issue 2 will be completed and I hope it will be as cool as I hope it will.
